And then she was 7 (yes it's another party dress)

Kun esikoinen oli kaksi, näin ensimmäisen kerran tämän Amy Butlerin  kuosin. Ajattelin silloin, että siitä tulisi ihana takki. Onneksi en sitä silloin takkiin ostanut, koska nyt kuosi yllätti minut koollaan. 86cm takissa se olisi mennyt täysin hukkaan.

She was two when I first saw this print from Amy Butler. I then thought it would make a lovely coat for her, but I didn't buy it. That was a good thing as the size of the print is quite big and it would have been lost in the coat.

 

Nyt se päätyi syntymäpäivämekoksi. Jälleen kerran sillä samalla vintage kaavalla. Tämä taitaa olla myös viimeinen mekko jonka tällä kaavalla teen. Koko alkaa jäädä pieneksi ja voi olla, että neiti ei halua kohta tälläisiä mekkoja edes käyttää.

Tällä kertaa laitoin saman sarja pallokankaasta vuorin yläosaan ja tein myös kiinteän vyön, jonka voi solmia joko taakse tai eteen.

Now it's the perfect size to be made in to a party dress. Once again I used my favourite vintage pattern for girls. This might just be the last dress I'll make with it. It's starting to get small and I'm guessing that soon she doesn't want to wear this kind of dresses anymore.

I used dots from the same collection in the lining and also made a belt that can be tied to the front or back, depending on your mood.

Nyt Neiti on siis seitsemän. Se on iso luku. Tänään on viimeinen päiväkotipäivä, syksyllä alkaa sitten koulu. Paljon isoja muutoksia tapahtumassa. Enää ei pääse ilmaiseksi julkisissa, joten yksi syntymäpäivälahjoista oli oma matkakortti. Sen lisäksi sai oman avaimen, jotta voi olla itsekseen pihalla ja puhelimen, jotta voi soittaa jos on tarve.

So now she's seven. That's a big number. Today is her last day in daycare/pre-school, starting from august she's a schoolgirl. Lots of big changes now. She no longer can ride for free in public transport, so we got her her own travel card. She also got a key so she can go out by herself and still get in. We also bought her a phone, so she can call us if anything is troubling her.

Hän on ihana, hauska ja fiksu. Kaikkien meidän rakastama.

When everything goes wrong and it's still wearable

Kuuma, kuuma toukokuu. Pakko oli tehdä itselle jotain viileää päälle puettavaksi. Vaikka farkut ja t-paita on se missä parhaiten viihdyn, ovat ne aivan liian kuumia tälläisille keleille.

Hot, hot may... I had to make something cool to wear. Although I do love my jeans and t-shirts, they are just too darn hot to be worn right now.

Joten tein maksimekon, joka ei ole ihan maksi, koska kangasta oli liian vähän (tästä eteenpäin, ostan aina vähintään 1,5m kangasta). Katkaisin ainoan kaksoisneulani pyhäpäivänä, joten helmaa ja kädenteitä ei ole huoliteltu. Jos nyt huolittelen ne, mekko lyhenee entisestään ja olkaimista tulee liian kapeat.

So I made a maxi dress which isn't quite maxi as I ran out of fabric (from this day foward, I promise to buy at least 1,5m of fabric everytime). I broke my only twin needle on a day that I'm not able to buy a new one - so the hem and the armholes are not finished. If I do them anyway, the dress will get shorter and I will be showing my bra straps to the world.

 Onneksi kangas on viskoositrikoota, joten huolittelu ei ole ongelma. Tämä ei purkaannu, eikä juurikaan rullaannu. Ja itse asiassa, tämä pituus on minulle juuri hyvä. Yhtään pidempi niin näytän vieläkin lyhyemmältä.

Tämä on täysin pidettävä näinkin ja voi hyvinkin olla, että näin se myös jää.

Ja hei, minulla ei ole kuuma!

Luckily the fabric is viscose jersey, so I don't have to worry about fraying edges even when they're not finished. And actually, this lenght works for me.

It's totally wearable and I'm happy that I'm cool!
